Another phenomenal Buggy Recycling Workshop run in Bloemfontein. 85 Children benefited, some living close to the hospital, as well as those from the most rural regions of Xhariep and Senekal. They had waited so many years for a buggy, it was a real challenge to locate them. We showed therapists from over 6 hospitals how to repair and revamp buggies, and every child who arrived was sent home with their own custom-fitted buggy.

We provided mobility devices to 71 children, an incredible experience. What magnificent therapists, what wonderful caregivers and children.
As usual there have not been enough buggies in those hospitals and clinics for many years. The therapists worked so hard to track down whatever old buggies they could find in the area. Everyone moved mountains to get children from homes hours away to Joe Morolong Hospital, so many dreams of finally getting a buggy realised.

We travelled to Ngwelezana Hospital in northern KwaZulu Natal where at least 7 hospitals in this vast King Cetshwayo District participated in a buggy recycling workshop. We separated our team and went to 3 hospitals in the district this time. We saw love and care from elderly relatives who had no choice but to raise such disabled children. We taught hospital staff the art of revamping buggies, and we provided second- hand buggies for these children. We introduced a mindset of recycling buggies as opposed to replacing them, a huge achievement which will see many children having access to a buggy from now on. In total 65 children received mobility devices.
Sekhukhune District Limpopo
20-22 March 2025
Our incredible weekend at Mecklenburg and Philadelphia Hospitals, Sekhukhune, Limpopo, waving magic wands for desperate families is done and dusted.
We ran our Buggy Recycling Workshop along with therapists from 7 hospitals/clinics in the district. We renovated and fitted 51 buggies on site , and left another 20+ buggies with all their spares for children who hadn’t yet heard we were in the area (and will arrive to ask for a buggy).
The areas we went to were rural and remote, the children were for the most part, severe. New mobility equipment is just too expensive to purchase in the quantities that it is needed and children have had to wait so many years for this precious commodity.
